Rep. Shontel Brown, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 11th district, recently took to social media to address several issues. Known for her active engagement in political and community matters, Rep. Brown shared her thoughts on government oversight and promoted a forthcoming local event for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

On April 11, 2025, Rep. Brown emphasized the need for accountability, stating, “Yes, we need answers. Just a massive massive red flag. @GerryConnolly and I believe the Oversight Committee should actually provide oversight, even if the GOP looks the other way.” This remark underscores her concerns regarding the government’s commitment to providing adequate oversight.

Later the same day, she invited aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners to join the 3rd Annual OH-11 Small Business Expo on May 3rd, 2025. She asked individuals interested in starting or expanding their businesses to register for the event.

On the evening of April 11, Rep. Brown voiced her concerns over social media platforms, claiming, “This is outrageous. Fewer than 1-in-4 Americans use X/Twitter. However, X is owned by Elon’s company. Trump and Elon are breaking Social Security.” The tweet highlights her apprehensions about the impact of powerful figures in technology and politics on social security.

Shontel Brown has been serving in the U.S. Congress since replacing Marcia Fudge in 2021. Before her congressional service, Brown was a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Brown was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and resides in Warrensville Heights. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
