Ohio’s 11th District Representative, Shontel Brown, has taken a significant step in addressing food insecurity with the introduction of the Hunger Free Future Act. As a congresswoman, Brown aims to use her platform to combat efforts that threaten to reduce nutritional assistance programs like SNAP, especially from plans that couple these cuts with tax breaks for wealthy individuals.

On April 1, 2025, Brown expressed her commitment to this cause by sharing, “Proud to introduce the Hunger Free Future Act to protect SNAP from Republican plans to cut vital food assistance to give tax breaks to billionaires. My bill is simple: any changes to SNAP must not increase hunger. Everyone deserves access to food. #HungerFreeFuture“.

Later the same day, Brown extended her support to Senator Cory Booker, acknowledging his efforts on similar fronts. She affirmed, “Thank you @SenBooker for fighting for the American people. I stand with you!“.

Building upon her commitment, on April 2, 2025, Brown joined forces with fellow representatives and organizations to bolster her advocacy for the Hunger Free Future Act. She stated, “Today, I stood with @RepMcGovern, @RepJahanaHayes, and @fractweets to introduce the Hunger Free Future Act—because no one should go hungry while billionaires get tax breaks. Our bill stops House Republicans’ backdoor cuts to SNAP and protects families who rely on it.“.
