Representative Shontel Brown, currently serving Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, frequently shares updates and expresses her views on various issues through social media. Recently, she shared her support for TSA employees, announced a Social Security Town Hall, and voiced her concern over a tragic event in Florida.

On April 17, 2025, Representative Brown stated, “Today I stood with TSA Workers and AFGE Local 615 in support of collective bargaining rights for TSA employees. Trump’s attacks on union rights are bad for workers, passengers, and our country.” Brown has consistently advocated for worker rights and aims to enhance the working conditions for TSA employees through collective bargaining.

Later the same day, she announced, “I’m hosting a Social Security Town Hall with special guest Former Social Security Commissioner O’Malley next Friday. You’ll be able to hear updates, ask questions, and get help from caseworkers. Registration is required—sign up here.” This initiative reflects her commitment to engaging with constituents and addressing their concerns regarding social security.

Following these messages, Brown expressed her grief over a violent incident, “Saddened and angered by the shooting at Florida State. Terrible tragedies like this should not be a regular occurrence – and I will keep pushing for gun safety legislation. My prayers are with those harmed and their families tonight.” As a lawmaker who advocates for gun safety, Brown reiterated her commitment to pursuing legislation aimed at reducing gun violence.

Shontel Brown, a Cleveland native who resides in Warrensville Heights, has served in Congress since 2021, following a successful stint on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
