Rep. Shontel Brown, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 11th district since 2021, recently used her social media platform to address economic and political concerns, as well as promote youth engagement opportunities in Northeast Ohio.

On September 3, 2025, Brown questioned the willingness of her colleagues to oppose former President Donald Trump, writing: “Will even one of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle find the courage to stand up to Trump? It’s time to defend our economy, our freedoms, and our elections.”

The following day, she commented on recent employment statistics by quoting job loss figures and criticizing current economic conditions under Trump’s influence: ‘”Layoffs surged nearly 40 percent last month, with employers eliminating 85,979 positions”

Trump’s economy isn’t working.’ This post was made on September 4, 2025.

Also on September 4, Brown invited high school juniors and seniors from Northeast Ohio to apply for her office’s Youth Advisory Council for the academic year 2024-25. She wrote: “Calling NE Ohio HS JRs & SRs: Interested in learning more about Congress and policy issues impacting young people in NE Ohio?

Applications are open for our 2024-25 OH-11 Youth Advisory Council.
