U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who serves Ohio’s 11th district, addressed a range of issues in recent posts on her social media account, including the aftermath of a mass shooting in Minneapolis, concerns about Social Security data security, and the anniversary of the March on Washington.

On August 27, 2025, Brown expressed condolences following a tragic event in Minnesota: “Heartbroken by the horrific mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. My prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire community as they face this unspeakable tragedy. We must never accept this as normal.”

Later that day, she raised alarms about potential threats to Social Security information: “Trump, Elon, and the DOGE bros put YOUR Social Security data at risk.” This statement was posted on August 28, 2025.

On August 28, 2025, Brown also commemorated an important moment in American history: “Today marks the 62nd anniversary of the March on Washington. We honor the legacies of the civil rights leaders who led this march. The work toward a more just and equal America continues.”

Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th congressional district since replacing Marcia Fudge in 2021. Before her time in Congress, she served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
