Shontel Brown, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 11th district, recently shared her views and activities through a series of tweets. Brown, who has been serving in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Marcia Fudge, often engages with issues related to immigration, art recognition in her district, and healthcare legislation.
On June 16, 2025, Brown expressed her support for Dreamers and immigrant communities by advocating for legislation aimed at making DACA permanent. She stated: “Proud to stand with Dreamers and our immigrant communities, and to support legislation to make DACA permanent and create a path to citizenship for Dreamers.”
Later that day, she highlighted the artistic achievements within her district by meeting Reyna Verma, the winner of the OH-11 Congressional Art Competition. In a tweet posted on June 16, 2025, she wrote: “Enjoyed meeting our OH-11 Congressional Art Competition winner, Reyna Verma a student at Hathaway Brown, in DC. Reyna’s portrait ‘Me and Mama’ will be displayed in the Capitol all year long. Congratulations Reyna! So much talent in NE Ohio!”
On June 17, 2025, Brown voiced her opposition to what she referred to as “Trump’s Big Ugly Bill,” which concerns healthcare coverage issues. She tweeted: “When people don’t have health care coverage they’re less likely to see a doctor… The stakes could not be higher – and I’m going to fight Trump’s Big Ugly Bill every step of the way.”
Brown was born in Cleveland in 1975 and resides in Warrensville Heights. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
