Shontel Brown, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 11th district, recently shared a series of posts through her official social media account. These posts addressed a range of policy issues involving federal departments and social services. Brown, who succeeded Marcia Fudge in 2021, expressed her concerns regarding the actions and proposals of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

On March 26, 2025, Brown commented on Trump’s recent executive action, stating “Last week, Trump signed an executive order to dismantle the Department of Education. Let’s break down why this illegal order is a terrible idea.” Her tweet challenged the legality and rationale behind the decision.

In a subsequent post on March 27, 2025, Brown emphasized the importance of the United States Postal Service (USPS). She stated that “The USPS has been an independent self-sufficient agency for the last 55 years. We want to ensure that we continue to protect this agency that delivers and helps to save lives—not only for those in urban America, but all across the country.” Her message underscores the critical role played by USPS in delivering essential services nationwide.

On the same day, Brown criticized Trump’s proposal to cut funding for Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). She expressed, “Trump wants to cut Medicaid and SNAP to give his billionaire friends a tax cut. It’s not just bad for millions of people who rely on these programs – it’s bad for the economy.” Brown argued that the proposed cuts could have negative consequences for vulnerable populations and the economy.
