U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in Congress, highlighted the achievements of women and discussed health care policy in a series of social media posts on March 30, 2026.
In recognition of Women’s History Month, Brown emphasized the importance of honoring local leaders. She wrote, “During Women’s History Month, let’s make sure we also celebrate our local trailblazers. I spoke with News 5 about the impact and legacy of Judge Jean Murrell Capers.” (March 30, 2026).
Later that day, Brown addressed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its effects on women’s health coverage. She stated, “The Affordable Care Act has been a huge win for women’s health. More women are insured, maternal health care is covered, & predatory gender-based pricing is banned.” (March 30, 2026).
Brown also commented on ongoing political debates regarding health care policy: “Yet Republicans want to cut this lifeline. The Democratic Women’s Caucus is fighting to defend our health care.” (March 30, 2026).
Brown has served as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 11th District since replacing Marcia Fudge in 2021. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights at age 47, Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
