U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in Congress, recently highlighted community achievements and youth engagement in a series of social media posts.
On April 3, Brown shared her excitement for the Cleveland Guardians’ Opening Day and celebrated a local athlete: “Opening day is looking more & more like CLE day! Our returning Gold medal Olympian & Cleveland Heights native, Laila Edwards, just threw the first pitch at the Guardians game today. What a great way to celebrate her homecoming & the first day of the new baseball season!”
The following day, April 4, Brown turned her attention to young leaders from her district: “Our young people are the leaders of tomorrow, and building their confidence to lead is so important to nurture. I felt so proud watching our OH-11 Youth Advisory Council challenge themselves and learn more about the legislative process.”
On April 5, she posted a brief message in support of a local religious leader: “Preach, Reverend”.
Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th District since 2021 after succeeding Marcia Fudge. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown graduated from Wilberforce University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
