Cuyahoga County, Community Groups Prepare for “Reentry Week”
The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry, along with dozens of community groups and organizations, will participate in a week-long series of activities to help people with criminal convictions move forward to become productive members of our community.
“Reentry: The power of believing, investing, and creating a new story together,” is the theme of Cuyahoga County Reentry Week 2022. It kicks off Saturday, April 23rd with an Expungement Clinic and Resource Fair hosted by the Greater Cleveland Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., at John Kennedy High School. Other activities include virtual town hall meetings, workshops, film screenings and a Job and Resource Fair hosted by the Center of Employment Opportunities and Ohio Means Jobs on Thursday, April 28th.
In 2016, the U.S. Department of Justice created National Reentry Week to improve reentry outcomes and raise awareness of the importance of successful reentry. Simeon L. Best, the Director of the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry, said it is important for Cuyahoga County to provide resources and support for our citizens returning from incarceration.
“The Office of Reentry and its community partners are proud to present Reentry Week 2022,” said Best. “This year’s events will continue to highlight the barriers that challenge the successful reintegration of individuals leaving incarceration and it will also uplift the positive contributions of those who have successfully returned to society.”
