Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish issued the following statement:
"State Representative Barbara Boyd was a devoted public servant and strong advocate for her constituents, paving the way for many. As a Cleveland Heights councilwoman, and later as mayor, Rep. Boyd worked tirelessly to grow and enhance her community. Barbara and I served closely together in the Ohio House from 2006 to 2014. She worked extremely hard for the community, even after health problems began to slow her down. She took me under her wing and mentored me as I began in the legislature, encouraging me to run for speaker. Her daughter Janine, who serves in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will continue to carry on Barbara’s legacy of support for families and children. I will miss her as a partner and friend.”
