Congrats to Matt Schenek, who was presented with Strongsville Firefighter of the Year honors by the Knights of Columbus.
Matt, who created the popular Kids Fire Academy, was recognized for his work ethic, leadership abilities and dependability."Schenek possesses the traits all firefighters should have: the ability to stay calm under pressure, self-motivation, decisiveness, the ability to work well with little supervision and the ability to take charge when needed," his nominating letter says.
He's on the left in the photo, with Jeff Branic, center, representing the Knights of Columbus St. Francis of Assisi Council, and Fire Chief Jack Draves.
