Rep. Shontel Brown, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 11th district, recently shared her views on social media regarding actions taken by former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. In a series of tweets, she expressed concerns about the implications of these actions on government operations and public welfare.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Brown posted that "Trump is allowing unelected, un-confirmed billionaire Elon Musk to access people’s personal info and block any funding he chooses." She described this as an "illegal and brazen attempt to shut down the government," suggesting that there are plans to "sell it for parts to their billionaire buddies."

Later that day, at 14:55 UTC, Rep. Brown elaborated on her concerns by stating "Here's what you get from Trump: YOUR personal data at risk YOUR benefits at risk An un-elected, un-confirmed billionaire attempting to illegally play politics with federal funds No transparency, no accountability." This tweet underscores her apprehension about the risks posed to personal data and benefits under the current circumstances.

In another tweet posted at 16:12 UTC on the same day, Rep. Brown criticized the firing of agency watchdogs by Trump and questioned Elon Musk's role in federal spending oversight. She stated "Agency watchdogs track down waste, fraud and abuse. Trump fired them all. The Government Accountability Office monitors federal spending. What Elon Musk is doing isn’t oversight." She emphasized that "an unaccountable billionaire doesn’t have the power to cancel spending he disagrees with."
