Rep. Shontel Brown, representing Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, recently expressed concerns through a series of tweets regarding issues related to server security and oversight in government operations. Her comments were directed towards actions taken by Elon Musk and the perceived lack of response from Republican members of Congress.

On February 5, 2025, Rep. Brown highlighted a situation involving Elon Musk's access to sensitive Treasury information and the setup of an external server at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). She remarked on the silence from Republicans, stating, "Remember when Republicans cared deeply about server security? Elon Musk - who already has access to Treasury information - has setup an outside server at OPM. Republicans have nothing to say." She also mentioned that she and fellow Representative Gerry Connolly had demanded answers.

Later that day, Rep. Brown criticized the Oversight Committee for what she perceives as its failure to perform its duties effectively. She noted that Democrats on the committee attempted to subpoena Elon Musk concerning his alleged unauthorized control over federal agencies and access to confidential information but were blocked by Republican members. In her tweet, she stated, "The Oversight Committee has given up on oversight."

In another tweet posted on February 5, 2025, Rep. Brown addressed broader concerns about governance under current circumstances. She expressed her disapproval of what she sees as unchecked power wielded by wealthy individuals like Elon Musk without accountability or oversight from Congress. Her tweet read: "At this very moment, an unelected and unaccountable billionaire is raiding our government."
