Rep. Shontel Brown, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 11th district, has been vocal on social media regarding recent political developments and community events. In a series of tweets, she expressed her concerns about federal decisions affecting educational programs and criticized prominent figures for their approach to government operations.

On February 21, 2025, Rep. Brown commented on the Trump Administration's decision to suspend the 1890 Scholars Program. She described this action as "another egregious attack on fairness and opportunity" "Suspending the 1890 Scholars Program is another egregious attack on fairness and opportunity from the Trump Administration." According to her tweet, freezing this scholarship program negatively impacts students from rural and underserved communities who wish to study agriculture.

Later that day, she addressed issues concerning Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump's intentions with governmental structures. She stated: "Let’s be clear: Musk and Trump want to dismantle the government from within and sell it for parts." Brown asserted that their actions do not represent efficiency but rather incompetence in governance.

In a more positive note shared on February 22, 2025, Rep. Brown participated in a local event celebrating Black heritage. She expressed her honor at being part of the Cleveland Cavaliers' Black Heritage Celebration: "Honored to be a part of the @cavs Black Heritage Celebration tonight..." The event recognized influential Black women making significant contributions in Northeast Ohio.
