Rep. Shontel Brown, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 11th district, has recently taken to social media to express her views on various political issues. Brown, who succeeded Marcia Fudge in 2021 and previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council, shared her perspectives through a series of tweets.
On March 5, 2025, Rep. Brown addressed what she described as an anti-diversity agenda by former President Trump. She stated: "Trump’s anti-diversity agenda is an anti-Black agenda - opening the door to discrimination and closing the door on opportunity. I’m fighting back, including with legislation to restore anti-discrimination protections for the employees of federal contractors."
In another tweet posted shortly after, Rep. Brown criticized discussions around Social Security cuts. She urged those involved to refrain from spreading misinformation: "Take Social Security out of your mouth. These claims have been debunked. Fearmongering to justify cuts."
Later that day, Rep. Brown commented on actions attributed to DOGE (Department of Government Ethics), alleging illegal activities and potential policy changes: "Here’s what DOGE is really doing: illegally firing civil servants, illegally accessing YOUR personal data, and illegally freezing appropriated funds. And making plans for Medicaid, Social Security and SNAP cuts."
