She stated: "Today we remember with gratitude those who marched, celebrate their courage, and recommit ourselves to continuing to fight for voting rights, civil rights, and justice."
Later that day, she marked the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma by addressing ongoing restrictions on voting rights across various states. She expressed her support for legislative efforts aimed at restoring these rights: "Today marks the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when marchers were attacked in Selma. Unfortunately, states continue to restrict voting rights. The need to #RestoretheVote is urgent – why I’m proud to cosponsor @RepTerriSewell’s John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act."
