Rep. Shontel Brown, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 11th district, shared a series of tweets reflecting on significant historical and current events. These posts highlighted her commitment to voting rights, civil rights, and social justice issues.

On March 7, 2025, Rep. Brown tweeted about the importance of remembering those who marched for justice and emphasized the need to continue fighting for voting rights. She stated: "Today we remember with gratitude those who marched, celebrate their courage, and recommit ourselves to continuing to fight for voting rights, civil rights, and justice."

Later that day, she marked the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma by addressing ongoing restrictions on voting rights across various states. She expressed her support for legislative efforts aimed at restoring these rights: "Today marks the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when marchers were attacked in Selma. Unfortunately, states continue to restrict voting rights. The need to #RestoretheVote is urgent – why I’m proud to cosponsor @RepTerriSewell’s John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act."

In another tweet posted on March 7th as well, Rep. Brown participated in an Ash Wednesday gathering with Rep. James Clyburn and the Democratic Faith Working Group to discuss proposed budget cuts affecting safety net programs. She emphasized the necessity of supporting vulnerable populations: "This Ash Wednesday, I joined the @RepJamesClyburn and the Democratic Faith Working Group for prayer, reflection, and reaction to the potential cuts to safety net programs proposed in the disastrous House Budget."
