Rep. Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio's 11th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed concerns regarding educational funding through a series of tweets. Brown, who has been serving since 2021 after succeeding Marcia Fudge, highlighted potential impacts on students from various backgrounds if funding cuts occur.
On March 20, 2025, Rep. Brown tweeted about the impact on students from lower-income families: "3. 10 million students from lower-income families could lose access to affordable college, making two- and four-year degrees out of reach."
In another tweet on the same day, she expressed concerns about career and technical education: "2. 12 million students will lose access to career & technical education, including apprenticeships in trades and STEM careers."
Additionally, Rep. Brown highlighted the potential loss of special education funding for students with disabilities: "4. 7.5 million students with disabilities––15% of all students nationally will lose special education funding for essential services."
