Rep. Shontel Brown, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 11th district, has recently taken to social media to express her concerns over proposed policy changes affecting critical social programs and education funding. Brown, who succeeded Marcia Fudge in 2021, is known for her advocacy on issues impacting low-income families and educational resources.

On March 19, 2025, Rep. Brown highlighted the challenges faced by individuals relying on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). She stated that "The average SNAP benefit is $6 a day, so I just tried to buy a week’s worth of groceries for $42." Brown criticized proposals from former President Trump and Republican lawmakers aimed at reducing SNAP benefits in favor of tax cuts for billionaires.

In another post dated March 20, 2025, she raised concerns about potential funding cuts in education. She tweeted that "26 million kids in every school district—rural, suburban, and urban—will lose critical funding that helps them get ahead." This statement underscores her apprehension regarding budgetary decisions affecting students across diverse communities.

On the same day, Rep. Brown addressed the implications of dismantling the Department of Education. She warned that "Dismantling the Department of Education means cutting funding for every student in America." Her comments reflect concern over the potential nationwide impact on educational opportunities if such structural changes were implemented.
