On March 20, 2025, Rep. Shontel Brown criticized former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk in a tweet regarding their stance on public education. She stated: "Trump and Elon don’t care about public schools and the kids in those halls." Emphasizing her commitment to education as a CMSD alumna, she highlighted the importance of federal funding for student success and opposed Trump's plan to dismantle the Department of Education.

The following day, on March 21, 2025, Rep. Brown tweeted about accountability within Congress concerning Trump's actions: "Not everyone in Congress is interested in holding Trump accountable." She reiterated her dedication to fighting back by listening to constituents and standing up for Northeast Ohio.

Later that same day, Rep. Brown commented on changes related to federal student loans management under Trump's influence: "Trump today: the SBA will handle federal student loans."
