Rep. Shontel Brown, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 11th district, recently expressed her views on several issues through a series of tweets. Brown has been serving in Congress since 2021, after replacing Marcia Fudge. She previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021.
On March 22, 2025, Rep. Shontel Brown announced her opposition to the closure of a regional office of General Counsel that serves Ohio and other Great Lakes states. She stated, "Proud to co-lead this letter to HHS with @RepRobinKelly opposing the closure of the HHS regional office of General Counsel that serves Ohio, Illinois and other Great Lakes states."
Later that day, Brown voiced concerns over potential threats to the Social Security Administration. In her tweet, she claimed that "Trump and Elon are threatening to shut down the Social Security Administration and stop seniors from getting their hard-earned benefits." She further criticized what she described as contempt for working-class people by stating, "This is a White House that has contempt for working class people."
Additionally, Brown expressed gratitude towards her constituents in Northeast Ohio for their support against former President Trump's agenda. On March 22, she tweeted about recent town halls in Cleveland Heights and Cleveland - Ward 17: "Northeast Ohio is not on board with the Trump agenda. Thank you to everyone who attended our huge town halls this week in Cleveland Heights and Cleveland - Ward 17." She concluded by affirming her commitment to represent and fight for her community.
