Rep. Shontel Brown, currently serving Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, engaged with her constituency through a series of tweets on April 15 and 16, 2025. Brown took to social media to express her concerns about ongoing political challenges and to advocate for policy transparency.
On April 15, 2025, Brown criticized certain high-profile figures in a tweet, stating, "Social Security might not matter to Trump & Elon but it sure matters to people in NE Ohio. Social Security is an earned benefit people need, but Trump and the DOGE bros are trying to dismantle it. Democrats are fighting back: no cuts, no layoffs, no delays, no privatization."
Later that day, at 20:48 UTC, Brown highlighted imminent threats to Social Security in a follow-up tweet: "Social Security is under attack. For real. This is what you need to know."
On April 16, 2025, Brown voiced her concern over international students being affected by U.S. immigration policies. She stated, "Over 40 international students at Ohio universities have had their student visas revoked. I’m alarmed by what’s happening and calling for full transparency."
Shontel Brown has long been active in public service, having represented Ohio’s 11th District since 2021. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Brown, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and currently resides in Warrensville Heights.
