Rep. Shontel Brown, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 11th district since 2021, addressed several issues on her Twitter account in late July 2025, including women’s health, tax policy, and support for minority farmers.

On July 28, Brown highlighted the prevalence of fibroids among women and called for more open discussion about the condition. She stated, "70% of women will experience fibroids in their lifetime. It’s personal. It’s time we normalize this conversation so we can create change. Listen to Part 2 of my fibroid journey now: https://t.co/e5isld6C9w".

The following day, she criticized recent legislative actions by Republican lawmakers regarding tax cuts and healthcare coverage. On July 29, Brown posted, "Trump's Big Ugly Bill is bad for families. MAGA Republicans chose tax cuts for the rich over the health care of millions."

Later that same day, Brown announced her participation in a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), denouncing the Trump Administration’s decision to end programs supporting socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. She wrote on July 29, "Today I joined @RepAdams in leading a letter to the @USDA denouncing the Trump Administration’s decision to end programs that support socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. This harmful move ignores history and makes it harder for Black and minority farmers to get a fair".

Brown has represented Ohio's 11th District since replacing Marcia Fudge in Congress in 2021 and previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975, she resides in Warrensville Heights and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
