U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in Congress, posted a series of messages on her official social media account between September 8 and September 9, 2025. The posts addressed civil rights history, government accountability, and local economic development.
On September 8, Brown commemorated Ruby Bridges’ birthday by recalling a recent visit: "Happy Birthday to the incredible Ruby Bridges! Last year, I had the honor of welcoming her to Cleveland when she spoke to local students about integrating an all-white school in 1960. The courage and strength she showed as a 1st grade is an inspiration to this day."
Later that day, Brown questioned former President Donald Trump’s statements regarding documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and advocated for transparency: "Trump said this note doesn't exist. What else is he lying about? @OversightDems demanded the birthday book and are fighting for ALL the Epstein Files to be released. The rich, powerful, and connected should not be shielded from being held accountable."
On September 9, Brown reported attending a regional summit focused on economic assets in Northeast Ohio: "Honored to attend the Aerozone Annual Summit, meet with local leaders, and talk about the importance of NASA Glenn and CLE Hopkins to our local economy. I’m committed to supporting these assets and opposing misguided federal budget cuts that will hurt NE Ohio."
Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th District since replacing Marcia Fudge in Congress in 2021. She previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 until her election to Congress. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
