U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in Congress, addressed a range of national issues in a series of social media posts on September 10, 2025.
In a post made at 14:43 UTC, Brown criticized recent health care legislation, stating, "Trump's Big Ugly Bill is a ticking time bomb for health care. And it's not just Medicaid. 22 million people will see premiums increase by $700 a year. @HouseDemocrats are fighting to block these cost increases."
Later that day, following reports of violence in Utah, Brown wrote at 19:45 UTC, "I’m sickened by the attack on Charlie Kirk in Utah today. Absolutely horrifying. Politically-motivated violence is abhorrent, un-American, and a threat to all of us. My prayers are with him and his family."
In an additional statement posted at 22:20 UTC, Brown further commented on the incident involving Charlie Kirk: "Charlie Kirk’s murder is an unconscionable tragedy, and my prayers are with his family. We are living through a frightening moment in our country. Just weeks ago, officials in Minnesota were killed and threats continue to spread. We must come together to reject political"
Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th district since 2021 after succeeding Marcia Fudge in Congress. Before her tenure in Washington D.C., she served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
