U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in Congress, shared updates this week on legislative initiatives and community events through a series of posts on her official social media account.

On September 12, 2025, Brown addressed concerns about rising medical expenses by posting, "Your health care costs could skyrocket later this year—here’s why."

The following day, she announced new legislation aimed at supporting education and nutrition. In her September 13 post, Brown stated, "This week, I introduced the Thriving Community Gardens Act, bipartisan legislation to make federal grants available for school gardens that help students learn about agriculture and ecology. Thank you to @RepMikeCarey and @StaceyPlaskett for cosponsoring."

Later the same day, Brown highlighted local engagement by acknowledging participation from veterans associated with her office at a public event. She wrote on September 13: "Veterans Brehon and Erin from Team Brown were honored to be part of Family Fun Day organized by the @CityofCleveland and the Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission. A wonderful event and opportunity to share information on the services we provide."

Brown has served in Congress since replacing Marcia Fudge in 2021 as representative of Ohio's 11th District. Prior to her tenure in Washington D.C., she was a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 until her election to Congress. Born in Cleveland in 1975, Brown resides in Warrensville Heights and is an alumna of Wilberforce University.
