Rep. Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues affecting Ohio farmers and criticizing former President Donald Trump’s economic and legal policies.
On September 16, 2025, Brown highlighted the challenges faced by local agricultural producers, stating, “There’s nothing like Ohio’s apple and pumpkin farms in the fall. Specialty crop producers grow the food we eat and boost our economy, but many are struggling due to rising costs and tariff uncertainty. It’s time for Congress to give small and family farms a fighting chance.”
The following day, she turned her attention to national economic concerns with a direct critique of Trump’s record: “Trump is breaking the economy: more layoffs, fewer jobs.” This statement was posted on September 17, 2025.
On September 18, 2025, Brown commented on law enforcement under Trump’s administration: “Spare us the talk of law and order, because under Trump that just means lawlessness for his friends and punishment for everyone else.”
Brown has served as the representative for Ohio's 11th district since replacing Marcia Fudge in 2021. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
