U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who serves Ohio’s 11th district, recently used her social media platform to highlight issues related to women’s health research, federal student loan repayment programs, and the looming government funding deadline.

On September 23, 2025, Brown posted about her participation in an event with Mandy Moore and Lupita Nyong'o focused on fertility and uterine fibroids research. She wrote: "Proud to join Mandy Moore and Lupita Nyong'o in Washington in shining a light on the gaps in research on fertility and uterine fibroids, which my U-FIGHT Act addresses.

Sadly, women’s health is still often under-researched, under-funded, and under-emphasized. It’s time to demand https://t.co/D1L5EQPdGw" (September 23, 2025).

Later that day, Brown addressed concerns over changes to federal student loan repayment programs following recent Republican legislation. She announced an informational webinar for borrowers: "The Republican Budget Bill made major changes to federal student loan repayment programs. Are you a current or future borrower and have questions?

My office is hosting a webinar on Tuesday September 30 at 6:00 PM.

In another post that evening regarding government funding set to expire on September 30th, Brown criticized partisan gridlock in Congress and called for negotiations between Democrats and former President Trump. She stated: "Government funding runs out on September 30 and the American people are facing a health care crisis with costs skyrocketing.

The partisan GOP spending bill has already failed. Instead of walking away, Trump needs to come to the table and negotiate with Democrats." (September 23, 2025).

Brown has represented Ohio's 11th congressional district since replacing Marcia Fudge in Congress in 2021 after serving six years on the Cuyahoga County Council. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
