Rep. Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, used her social media platform on September 30 and October 1, 2025, to address issues related to health care costs, the possibility of a government shutdown, and legislative activity in the House.
On September 30, Brown drew a sharp distinction between party positions on health insurance premiums: "Republicans want premiums to double. Democrats want to stop the price hikes and lower costs. That's it."
Later that evening, she provided information for constituents concerned about a potential government shutdown: "Have questions about what happens during a government shutdown? Here's what you need to know"
In the early hours of October 1, Brown commented on legislative proceedings in the House: "Friendly reminder Speaker Johnson has not held a vote in the House since September 19th."
Brown has served as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 11th District since 2021 after previously serving on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. She succeeded Marcia Fudge in Congress and is a graduate of Wilberforce University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Born in Cleveland in 1975, Brown resides in Warrensville Heights.
