U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who serves Ohio’s 11th district, posted a series of statements on September 30, 2025, criticizing recent federal actions affecting education and health care in her state.

In her first post at 14:44 UTC, Brown addressed the termination of grants for Ohio students by the Trump administration. She wrote, "The Trump Admin just terminated millions in grants to help Ohio students. It's flat out wrong. @RepMarcyKaptur @RepBeatty @RepEmiliaSykes & @RepGregLandsman joined me in calling for these grants to be restored" (September 30, 2025).

Later that day at 15:50 UTC, Brown commented on an impending government shutdown and its impact on health care costs. She stated, "Standing with my colleagues in the @HouseDemocrats. Hours from a shutdown - we're here. Republicans are on vacation. Millions are facing massive premium increases due to Republicans. Including 38,000 in our district. Cancel the cuts, lower the costs, save health care." (September 30, 2025).

In a subsequent message at 20:50 UTC, she reaffirmed her party's stance by saying simply: "Democrats are fighting to protect your health care." (September 30, 2025).

Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th District since replacing Marcia Fudge in Congress in 2021 and previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Wilberforce University.
