WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nov. 3, Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) applauded the House of Representatives’ passage of another appropriations bill that will provide funding to projects important to Northeast Ohio communities. This week the House passed the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which collectively advances 8 of the Congressman’s 15 community project requests that have made it through the Appropriations Committee. The Senate now will receive this bill, with the community projects, for consideration.

“I came to Washington not to get bogged down in the noise of the establishment nor play politics,” said Congressman Miller. “I came to Washington to serve and provide a voice for the people of Northeast Ohio and our communities. Delivering wins that directly impact the lives of residents in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District is the most important thing I can do in Congress. I’m excited to see just how much these projects enhance the quality of life in our region by improving our infrastructure, and I really appreciate the mayors and other local officials who brought these projects forward, strongly advocated for them, and helped me get this done.”

The Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act which passed 213 to 203 contained funding for 8 community projects. The remaining 7 projects still await consideration by the House of Representatives. The projects Congressman Miller has been able to secure include:

  • City of Bay Village – $866,000 for the Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) elimination project;
  • City of Fairview Park – $1,152,000 for the Regional Equalization Facility Project to upgrade its sewers;
  • City of Middleburg Heights – $1,250,000 to install a sanitary relief sewer along Indian Creek Drive.
  • City of Parma – $1,250,000 for the replacement of failing residential septic systems.
  • City of North Olmsted – $1,250,000 for the Clague Road Sanitary Force Main Piping project.
  • City of Rocky River – $1,000,000 for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project.
  • Village of Seville – $1,000,000 for its own Wastewater Treatment Plant project.
  • Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) – $2,000,000 to construct a new stormwater detention basin.
Should the Senate pass this appropriations bill, Ohio’s 7th district will see over $9 million invested in their local communities. There is an additional $8 million still pending before the House in unprocessed appropriations bills. In the end, Congressman Miller could bring over $17 million back to his constituents in Ohio by securing all 15 of his community projects the House Appropriations Committee process allows Members of Congress to advocate for and advance.

The Community Project Funding process allows members of Congress, rather than bureaucrats in the Biden administration, to direct existing federal resources to projects important to their local communities. Community Projects come from existing funding streams and do not increase federal spending. Congressman Miller rigorously vetted all projects and will ensure local stakeholders are good stewards of taxpayer dollars.
