Rep. Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, marked Labor Day and highlighted federal support for environmental cleanup projects in Northeast Ohio through a series of posts on social media.
On September 1, 2025, Brown acknowledged the contributions of American workers and unions, stating: "Happy Labor Day! Today we celebrate the achievements of working Americans and the importance of unions to ensuring rights on the job. As a member of the @Labor_Caucus, I am fighting to give workers a seat at the table so that we can grow the middle class."
Later that day, she drew attention to ongoing environmental efforts in her district: "Cuyahoga River cleanup is underway at Gorge Metro Park in Cuyahoga Falls, benefiting communities from Akron to Cleveland. The project is supported by $65 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which I proudly voted for. Another win for NE Ohio."
Continuing this theme on September 2, Brown reiterated federal investment in local infrastructure: "We’re cleaning up the Cuyahoga River thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The BIL is providing $65 million in funding for new river cleanup at Gorge Dam, meaning cleaner water all the way to Lake Erie. It’s another win for Northeast Ohio."
Brown has represented Ohio's 11th District since 2021 after serving on Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. She was born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently resides in Warrensville Heights. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law referenced by Brown allocates significant resources toward environmental restoration projects across the country.
