WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) hosted two roundtable discussions with local officials in Wayne and Medina Counties. The roundtables provided another opportunity for the Congressman to hear from local officials on pressing issues impacting them and their constituents and to share an update on his work in Congress.

“Ohio 7 local officials and I have a shared goal: making sure that government works well for our communities,” said Congressman Miller. “It was a pleasure to sit down with so many of our local leaders to discuss the issues that our constituents are facing and how I can best support them through my work in Congress. I am extraordinarily grateful for their leadership and cooperation, and I look forward to our continued partnership to better our communities.”

Miller highlighted some of the important work that he and his team accomplished over his first year in office. With the goal of making the federal government work better for Ohioans, the Congressman was able to engage with thousands of constituents, help resolve issues on their behalf with federal agencies, advocate for much-needed federal resources, and support commonsense policies:

• More than 600 cases resolved with federal agencies;
• Helped recover more than $3.5 million for constituents from federal agencies;
• Responded to over 35,000 constituent questions and comments;
• Hosted and attended more than 650 meetings and events in Cuyahoga, Medina, Wayne, and Holmes Counties;
• Hosted 9 town hall meetings;
• Secured more than $17 million through the Community Project Funding Process (CFP) for projects important to local communities;
• Passed 1 bill, 1 resolution, and 2 amendments to major legislation.

Congressman Miller also provided an update on his top priorities such as supporting NASA Glenn, using his role on the Agriculture Committee to make sure the Farm Bill works for the Ohio agriculture industry and consumers, and strengthening America’s national security against adversaries like China. He also focused on supporting workforce development by expanding opportunities for career and technical education. 

During the conversation, the Congressman heard directly from local officials who shared challenges and priorities for their communities. Some of the issues raised by local officials included the foreign ownership of farmland, substance abuse and mental health, the Rail Act, and the lack of affordable housing options in both counties. 

In Wayne County, the Congressman was joined at the roundtable discussion by Mayor Bob Reynolds of Wooster, Mayor Matt Plybon of Orrville, Mayor Rodney Mackey of Apple Creek, Mayor Chriss Creps of West Salem, Trustee Jeff Kauffman of Baughman Township, Trustee Donald Zimmerly of Green Township, Trustee Kevin Ungerer of Franklin Township, Trustee Dan Hodge of East Union Township, Trustee Matthew P. Ogden of Wooster Township.

The Medina County roundtable attendees included Mayor Dennis Hanwell of Medina, Trustee Rick Dumperth of Chatham, Trustee Michael Gray of Harrisville Township, Trustee Ty Fullerton of Lafayette Township, Trustee Chris O’Neil of Lafayette Township, Trustee Joe Seifert of Litchfield Township, Trustee Chuck Johnson of Medina Township, Trustee Bruce Christopher of Medina Township, Trustee Kimberly Miller of Sharon Township, Trustee James Gardner of Wadsworth Township, Trustee Kent Patterson of Westfield Township, Trustee Michael Schmidt of Westfield Township, Trustee Al Beihl of Montville Township.
