WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) released the following statement after the House voted 357-70 to pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act:

“The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act is good for Ohio families, workers, and businesses.

Families will get a boost from the expanded Child Tax Credit. After three years of higher costs under President Biden, Ohio families deserve to have more of their hard-earned dollars back in their pockets.

Workers will benefit from new, steady jobs and higher wages thanks to pro-growth provisions that will support the addition of hundreds of thousands more jobs and more than $50 billion in additional take-home pay.

Businesses of all sizes, including family farms, will be better equipped to innovate, expand, and help grow our economy. The days of lagging behind adversaries like China will be in our rearview mirror thanks to important provisions that allow for research and development (R&D) expensing, interest deductibility, and full expensing.

And I am glad that the bill ensures East Palestine families and small businesses are not on the hook for extra taxes as a result of disaster relief that they received in response to the train derailment.

All-in-all, this package is a win for Ohio and America.”
