WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) had a full schedule last week while he was in Washington D.C. and Ohio, during which he met with local stakeholders, gave remarks on the House Floor, and was presented an award.  

Here are highlights of Rep. Miller’s engagements for the week of February 5 – February 10, 2024:  

MONDAY, February 5

Congressman Miller met with Brian Baldridge, Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, in his Washington D.C. office. During the meeting, they discussed the needs of Ohio’s farmers, ranchers, and producers, and Congressman Miller discussed his advocacy for Ohio’s needs on the House Agriculture Committee. They also talked about the Farm Bill, the importance of Ohio’s processing facilities, and preserving animal health for a strong food supply. 

Congressman Miller met with leadership of the Northeast Ohio-based Lubrizol Corporation, including CEO Rebecca Leibert. Lubrizol is headquartered in Northeast, Ohio and has over 8,000 employees worldwide. During the conversation, the Congressman discussed the contributions Lubrizol is making to the local economy in OH-07 through job creation and innovations in a range of consumer, energy and medical products. 

  

TUESDAY, February 6

Congressman Miller gave remarks on the House Floor to call for the immediate release of Keith Siegel, one of the many American hostages still being held captive by Hamas. Congressman Miller hopes that Keith and the other hostages will be brought home soon.  

Congressman Miller met with CEO of Curio Solutions, Ed McGinnis, in his Washington D.C. office. Curio is a nuclear innovation start-up located in Columbus, Ohio. During the meeting, they discussed Curio’s work in nuclear waste recycling and how it intersects with the Congressman’s work on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.  

Congressman Miller met with a group from Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), including the President, Michael Baston. Dr. Baston updated the Congressman on Tri-C’s workforce initiatives and the school’s vision for Cleveland to become the career capital of Ohio. Dr. Baston also shared priorities for expanding opportunities for students and ensuring that Federal Pell dollars can be used for short-term career and technical education programs. In response, Congressman Miller shared his support for the Bipartisan Workforce Pell Act, which would accomplish the latter goal. 

 WEDNESDAY, February 7

Congressman Miller participated in a roundtable discussion with Amir Ohana, Speaker of the Israeli Knesset. This was the first official event of the House-Knesset Parliamentary Friendship Group, to which Congressman Miller was appointed by former Speaker McCarthy. The friendship group is comprised of both Republican and Democrat members of the House of Representatives, who were appointed by their respective leaders. Speaker Ohana briefed the group about Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas. They also discussed how the U.S. and Israel can work together to promote peace and prosperity in the region.   

 THURSDAY, February 8 

Congressman Miller was presented with the “Guardians of Corn & Wheat” award at the Ohio Corn and Wheat’s Growers Association’s annual Celebration of Corn & Wheat event. The Association recognized Congressman Miller for his strong advocacy on behalf of Ohio’s grain farmers. The Guardian of Ohio Corn & Wheat is a recognition of exemplary public policy contributions to Ohio’s corn and wheat industry. This is not an annual award and is given in a case-by-case basis. The most recent recipient was Governor Mike DeWine in 2020. Senator Sherrod Brown was also given this award this year but was unbale to attend the event.

 Congressman Max Miller represents Ohio’s Seventh District which includes Medina and Wayne counties as well as parts of Cuyahoga and Holmes counties. Miller serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, for which he is also Chairman of the Environment Subcommittee. The Republican freshman members selected Miller as their representative to the Republican Steering Committee.  He is a member of the Republican Study Committee, Main Street Caucus, and the Congressional Jewish Caucus.
