WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Max Miller (OH-07) had a full schedule last week while he was in Washington D.C., during which he met with local stakeholders, voted on major pieces of legislation, and spoke about Career and Technical Education Month on the House Floor.  

Here are highlights of Congressman Miller’s engagements for the week of February 12 through February 17, 2024:  

TUESDAY, February 13 

Congressman Miller voted in favor of impeaching the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, due to his mishandling of the border crisis. Although the Congressman does not take the power of impeachment lightly, he believes that the evidence uncovered as part of the yearlong investigation into the Secretary has proved his willful and systemic disregard for the law and a breach of public trust. 

WEDNESDAY, February 14 

Congressman Miller questioned the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, at a hearing of the House Committee on Agriculture. During the hearing, Miller advocated for Ohio’s farmers and livestock producers who are facing unprecedented challenges. Congressman Miller also asked Secretary Vilsack about the rising agriculture trade deficit and the loss of access to stable markets for Ohio farmers. Additionally, Miller highlighted his Farm to Fly Act, legislation he spearheaded to secure American energy resources and drive rural economic development. Finally, Congressman Miller raised concerns regarding the Ohio Department of Agriculture’s need for stronger USDA partnership in state meat inspections. 

At the recommendation of Chairman Mike Turner, Congressman Miller attended a classified brief held by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The Congressman was briefed on an urgent matter with regard to a destabilizing foreign military capability. 

THURSDAY, February 15 

Congressman Miller spoke on the House Floor to celebrate and acknowledge Career and Technical Education Month. The Congressman took the opportunity to recognize the pivotal role that career and technical education plays in shaping our nation’s workforce and helping great American companies prosper. Supporting America’s workforce through career and technical education is something the Congressman is very passionate about and is one of his main priorities in Congress.
