Shontel Brown, a U.S. Congress representative for Ohio's 11th district, has recently shared her concerns via social media regarding potential funding freezes proposed by President Trump and the Republican party. Brown highlighted several programs that could face significant delays or cessation of resources.

On January 28, 2025, Brown expressed her worries about the potential impact on various community programs through a series of tweets. In one tweet, she stated: "President Trump and Republicans are attempting to freeze funding for programs that Americans rely on." She further elaborated on the specific grants and programs that might be affected.

In another tweet posted on the same day, she addressed the potential risk to WIC Nutrition Benefits: "Funding for pregnant women, new moms, and kids under 5 could be at risk. Millions of families depend on WIC to stay healthy, and attempts to freeze funding put them in jeopardy."

Additionally, Brown mentioned concerns regarding SNAP (Food Assistance), noting that although it is claimed to be exempt from cuts, it remains flagged among over 2,000 programs for possible freezes. She tweeted: "While they claim it’s exempt, SNAP is among 2,000+ programs flagged for possible freezes. This could mean administrative delays and funding cuts that harm families needing food assistance."
