Rep. Shontel Brown, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 11th district, shared her thoughts on recent events and legislative matters through a series of tweets. Brown, who has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and healthcare, used her platform to express support for Pride celebrations and critique proposed legislation.

On June 9, 2025, Rep. Shontel Brown celebrated the Pride weekend in Cleveland by sending "joy and love to everyone from NE Ohio who celebrated this weekend." She emphasized her commitment as a member of the Equality Caucus to continue fighting for LGBTQ+ rights and equality. "It was a weekend of PRIDE in CLE."

Later that day, Brown addressed proposed cuts to Medicaid by referring to them as part of "Trump's Big Ugly Bill." Her brief tweet linked to further information about the bill's implications. "Trump's Big Ugly Bill cuts Medicaid."

On June 10, 2025, she further criticized the same legislation by rejecting any notion that its impact would be minimal. She warned that millions could lose their healthcare under the proposed changes. "Tiptoes" is not the word I would use.

Shontel Brown has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Marcia Fudge and previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021.
