Representative Shontel Brown, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 11th District since 2021, recently shared a series of statements on social media addressing economic and health issues. Brown, a Cleveland native and Wilberforce University graduate, replaced Marcia Fudge in Congress and previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council.
On July 15, 2025, Brown criticized former President Donald Trump’s record on inflation, stating: "Donald Trump promised to lower costs. Well, we know what his promises are worth - nothing. The latest inflation data shows that his first six months in office have made life even more expensive."
Later that day, Brown highlighted her participation in an event focused on uterine health alongside actress Lupita Nyong’o at Capitol Hill. She stated: "Honored to stand alongside @Lupita_Nyongo today on Capitol Hill to speak out about uterine health — a critical issue impacting so many women. Silence saves no one. It’s time we raise our voices and demand better awareness, research, and care."
In a subsequent post on July 15, 2025, Brown announced her collaboration with Representative Yvette Clarke to address legislative efforts targeting uterine cancer and fibroids. She wrote: "At 1 PM I'm joining @RepYvetteClarke to speak on the importance of addressing uterine health and our legislative package to fight uterine cancer and fibroids."
Shontel Brown is currently serving as the representative for Ohio’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress after succeeding Marcia Fudge in 2021. She previously held office as a member of the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021 and resides in Warrensville Heights.
