U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who represents Ohio’s 11th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to criticize Republican-led funding cuts and policy changes affecting health care and NASA.
On July 18, 2025, Brown wrote, "More late night cuts from Republicans, this time pulling back funding that most of them voted for in March. On top of that the cuts are wrong. I can’t with these folks." She posted this message amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding federal budget allocations.
Later the same day, Brown addressed potential increases in health insurance premiums for those enrolled through the Affordable Care Act. She stated on July 18, 2025: "Get your health insurance through the Affordable Care Act? You can thank Trump and Republicans in Congress when your premiums go way up next year. They don't care, they got the tax cuts for millionaires that they care about."
In a subsequent post on July 18, 2025, Brown criticized the Trump Administration’s reported efforts to reduce NASA funding without congressional consent. She wrote: "The Trump Administration is attempting to cut funding for NASA without congressional approval. This is illegal, unconstitutional, and wrong. It's also bad for NE Ohio, undermining the work done at NASA Glenn and undercutting the Ohioans who work there."
Brown has served as U.S. Representative since 2021 after succeeding Marcia Fudge and previously held office on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
