U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who has represented Ohio’s 11th district since 2021, addressed a range of issues on her social media account on August 15, 2025, including concerns over tariffs, local education initiatives, and proposed legislation affecting health care.

In a post from the morning of August 15, Brown commented on the impact of tariffs under former President Donald Trump’s administration: "Trump's tariffs are making life more expensive.

'Wholesale food prices rose 1.4% from June, led by a 38.9% surge in vegetable prices. The price of home electronic equipment gained 5% from June.'" This statement was made at 11:45 a.m., citing increases in both food and electronics costs.

Later that day, Brown shared her experience attending the Cleveland Job Corps Class of 2025 Graduation: "I was honored to speak at the Cleveland Job Corps Class of 2025 Graduation. Perseverance, pride, and potential were all on display at this joyous celebration.

I’m proud of the Class of 2025, grateful for the instructors, and will continue to support Cleveland Job Corps." The post highlighted her ongoing support for local educational programs.

By evening, Brown raised concerns about pending federal legislation: "Trump's Big Ugly Bill puts health care at risk, including Medicare."

Brown is currently serving as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 11th district after succeeding Marcia Fudge in 2021. She previously served on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and now residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown has been an advocate for both economic policy issues and local community development throughout her tenure.
