U.S. Representative Shontel Brown, who serves Ohio’s 11th district, recently used her social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump’s recent actions and policies, focusing on law enforcement in Washington D.C., tariffs, and health care legislation.

On August 21, 2025, Brown posted: "Law and order? Trump ignores the law and is creating more disorder. Trump’s takeover of DC’s police force is unlawful and unwarranted. I’m proud to cosponsor @RepRaskin’s legislation to terminate the takeover." She voiced opposition to what she described as an unlawful intervention by Trump in the management of Washington D.C.’s police force and announced her support for legislation aimed at reversing this action.

The following day, on August 22, 2025, Brown addressed economic concerns stemming from tariffs imposed during Trump’s presidency. She wrote: "More price hikes caused by Trump's tariffs. From clothes to electronics, life is more expensive under Trump. Now even coffee prices in Cleveland are up." In this post, she attributed rising consumer costs—including local increases in coffee prices—to these trade policies.

Later that same day, Brown criticized a legislative proposal referred to as "Trump's Big Ugly Bill," claiming it would negatively impact public health and finances. She stated: "Trump's Big Ugly Bill will make the country poorer, sicker, and more in debt - and more than 43,000 in our district people will lose their health care. Shameful."

Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th congressional district since 2021 after serving on the Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University.
