Shontel Brown, U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 11th district, posted a series of statements on her official Twitter account addressing recent political developments and commemorating historical milestones.
On August 25, 2025, Brown criticized former President Donald Trump’s handling of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), writing: "Trump appointed a FEMA Administrator who didn’t know there was a hurricane season and now he’s dismantling the agency. It’s a disaster in the making."
The following day, August 26, she marked Women’s Equality Day by reflecting on the centennial-plus anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States: "105 years ago, the 19th Amendment became part of the Constitution and American women could finally vote across the country. On Women’s Equality Day, we continue the fight for women's equality in every area of life."
Later that same day, Brown commented on reported efforts by Trump to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook: "Trump is trying to illegally fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. This isn’t just wrong and discriminatory — it’s a dangerous move to control the Fed and push it to print more money, which will make prices even higher for everyone."
Shontel Brown has served as U.S. Representative since 2021 after replacing Marcia Fudge. She previously held office as a member of Cuyahoga County Council from 2015 to 2021. Born in Cleveland in 1975 and currently residing in Warrensville Heights, Brown earned her bachelor’s degree from Wilberforce University.
